Rheinfelden Rudolf Rudolph Habsburg Basel Travel Switzerland Swiss History Castle Schloss Stein

Rheinfelden                       1276

If you are a fan of the Habsburgs, a trip to Rheinfelden is obligatory. If you are adicted to Habsburg history and research, you already know why. When Count Rudolf IV von Habsburg became King Rudolf I, his crowning glory was taking Rheinfelden from his enemy, the Bishop of Basel. Click on the picture showing a model of his castle to see some of the treasures awaiting you in Rheinfelden.

Author's Note about the Fricktaler Museum in Rheinfelden: On a tip from a former History teacher and fellow Habsburg fan, I took another look at the website for the Fricktaler Museum in Rheinfelden. But I didn't go to their English site this time, I followed her instruction and went to their German site. Such a stroke of luck that I mentioned this project to her!  Until 6 December 2009, the free local museum is displaying their Habsburg collection. You can click on the photo above to see my photos, but I suggest you clear your schedule and visit the collection yourself.
